Are you short? Me too. Need to hem nearly every pair of jeans you purchase? Me too. I put together this little photo-torial to show you how I like to hem my jeans. I prefer to keep the original hem. Honestly, it takes me about 10 minutes from start to finish! Anyone with a sewing machine can easily hem their own jeans. And yes, even a novice seamstress! It really is that easy!

1. Try on your jeans and flip up the excess. Make sure to try them on with the shoes you intend to wear. Pin in place. TIP:Always make sure to wash the jeans first to avoid any shrinkage after hemming. Measure from the original hem to the fold and record your measurement. (These jeans needed to be hemmed 1 inch) Take your measurement and divide it in half. ( 1″ / 2 = 1/2″ ) Re-pin jeans using your new measurement. While still folded, stitch the jeans as close to the original hem as possible. Press the excess fold toward the waistband. Stitch in the ditch on both side and inseams. Make sure to keep the excess fold in place. -Ruth-
